Beautiful Durango Colorado

One of our favorite camping spots is just north of Durango, Colorado on the Animas River. It is so peaceful and the mountains are always beautiful.

This was Gunnar's first camping trip and he acted like he was a veteran camper!

We had rain most afternoons, ate way to much food, took walks, the hubby went fly fishing, had a campfire every night and some mornings, and we all just plain relaxed!

This was the last weekend getaway for the four of us as Kylee starts college again next week. Hopefully hubby and I along with Gunnar will get out one more time this summer! Hard to believe summer is coming to a close, but who doesn't love everything about fall!

  1. That's a lovely place to camp. I wish it wasn't such a long drive for us. It looks like you guys had a really great time! Relaxing with the family in the mountains is the best!

  2. Do you ever go to Durango Joe's Coffee? My husband and I went to college with the owner, Joe Lloyd and his wife LeAnna. They are good friends! I would love to visit Durango.

    1. Hi Stacey,
My daughter and I actually made a stop at Durango Joe's after hitting the flea market. Very good coffee! You would love Durango and it sounds like you have a good reason to visit someday!

  3. I love Durango! That's such a gorgeous part of the state. (Although, as Denver native I'm biased, I think the whole state is gorgeous.)

And do I see fly fishing going on? Do you live in Colorado or were you just visiting?

    Cheers,

    1. Hi Heather,

We live in Albuquerque and are frequent visitors in Durango. My husband is an avid fly fisherman and never passes up on a stream of water. We love the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado and take every opportunity to spend time camping there.
